World Food Day 2011 Launched at Maggotty High School

Maggotty High school was chosen for the first time in its history to launch the World Food Day held on October 14, 2011. The Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations launched World Food Day 2011 at Maggotty High under the theme " FOOD PRICES from crisis to stability". The entire school was transformed into a massive display area. Several companies and organizations joined together to stage a successful event.

The Minister of Agriculture Hon. Robert Montaque was on hand to mark the launch of World Food Day 2011, but that was not all,he brought with him gifts and high praises for Maggotty High School. The minister of Agriculture commended the school for its excellent pass rate in Agriculture Science and other subjects such as Information Technology, Accounts, the Sciences, and Social Studies at the CSEC examination level.

 The School was the recipient of :

• Copy Machine, a Desktop Computer and Toner Cartridges donated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations

• Industrial Stove for the Home Economic area
• $100,000 to Agriculture Department
  
• Four goats for 4H Club
• 1 million dollars for Shade House

Maggotty High School Awards Ceremony 2011

Maggotty High School held its annual Awards Ceremony on November 17, 2011. Students who did well in their CSEC exams by obtaining passes in five(5) or more subjects were awarded. However they were not alone, as the current students who are doing well received certificates of recognition. The function was an opportunity to showcase and acknowledge outstanding achievements and to reinforce the values that promotes excellence.
